Questions and Answers
The
InTENSity Twin Stim™ III
is a portable electrotherapy device featuring two therapeutic modes: TENS & EMS therapy, which are used for pain relief and muscle stimulation. The unit is among the upper echelon of pain relief
devices, with a maximum output of 105mA, and it also comes standard with an AC Adapter and removable belt clip for easy, at-home use and convenience.
Relieve your pain by using the
TENS
Mode.
TENS is a non-invasive, drug free method to control your pain by sending tiny electrical impulses through the skin. In many cases, this stimulation will greatly reduce or eliminate pain.
Strengthen your muscles by using the
EMS
Mode.
EMS is widely used in hospitals and sports clinics to treat muscle injuries, to re-educate paralyzed muscles, and to prevent atrophy in affected muscles.

Knee Replacement Man
My Physical Therapist suggested that EMS might help me and recommended this unit. I got the unit for use in strengthening muscles after a total knee replacement and it worked fine for that purpose. I also use the unit for strengthening muscles for hip abduction after the muscles were degraded due to metal-on-metal hip leaking metal ions. I needed to purchase 3"x5" electrodes from another vendor for that purpose. It does seem to be improving my hip abductions strength. For the knee I used these settings: Total time: 6 minutes Pulse Width (PW): 300 us Pulse rate (PR): 50 Hz (>50 target Type 2 fibers) Ramp time: 2 seconds On time: 4 seconds (In the early phase after surgery, you may adjust your on time to 6 seconds and your off time to 8-12 seconds) Off time: 8-12 seconds Intensity set to 75 For the hip, I use the same settings, except intensity is set to 105 (maximum). Electrode placement is critical. I used placement per this photo:

Faster ACL Recovery
I can’t say enough about this TENS device. I recently had ACL reconstruction surgery and purchased this based on a recommendation from my sports med PT. Using in EMS mode has helped me activate and strengthen my quad and recover quicker. I still use it daily. The device is very easy to use and well designed with a nice case. My only advice would be to also purchase larger 3x5” pads as the pads that come with the unit are small.

Mr.
Programming the various modes didn't seem intuitive at first. After gaining some experience, however, it became easier for me. The unit is small and light and has withstood being bounced off the floor a few times with the only result being that the battery compartment cover popped off. It wasn't broken and popped back on OK. The unit has an illuminated display that times out after a few seconds. The illumination makes it easy to confirm setting. The various programs have helped mitigate pain from arthritis in my knees, hands, and wrists. The burst mode also is very helpful mitigating severe muscle cramps. At first, I was not happy that the unit is powered by a 9v battery (I preferred AA). But I bought a couple of rechargeable 9v batteries and couldn't be happier. One charge lasts hours of on-time and the battery recharges in an hour or so. If you need more than the TENS or EMF program, you might want to look at other units. But if you need just the two, this is a good quality, cost-effective unit. I have more than one, as I wanted to keep one in the bedroom and one in the family room.

Strong & Adequate
I have been quite satisfied with the TENS/Muscle stimulation unit, the InTENSity Twin Stim III. I have ordered a total of 24 of them, The TENS treatment provides adequate pain relief, while the muscle stimulation provides a strong enough muscle contraction to treat knee and shoulder muscle atrophy for the patients we supply. I will be ordering more in the future...

We use these as extra units in our outpatient clinic and I love them. I bought one for my mom to use at home because of how easy it is use. It also doesn’t feel like it’s “biting” like other portable units do. Another reason this is a great unit is how affordable it is for what you get, and you can’t beat that!

Tens unit
This is my 3rd one I have bought. I bought one for myself , and bought each of my daughters one, for their birthdays. After using mine, they loved the results. I bought them each some supplies to go with them, and they are set. Now I don’t have to lend mine out, and really need it when someone else is using it. I also gave another friend the order info for your online order site, and she wants to buy one too. My husband has been using mine too, as he also likes it. Need I say more about your product. As you can see, we think it’s really great.

Product works as advertised and has been helping with the improvements we needed. Also, most people might need a professional to explain where/how to properly place the electrodes. Only issue is that the electrodes lose their stickiness very quickly; easy fix is to clean after every use (just that it is inconvenient). Otherwise happy with the purchase.

I've been using TENSpro's products for a long time and was happy to see this particular inexpensive programmable unit. I have been using a relatively new therapy for stress relief in patients called Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation (tVNS) which requires a specific range for pulse rate. This unit is exactly what I need for my patients--I've been recommending that they get it along with the metallic-rubber earclips that are required for tVNS. Glad that TENSpros are able to keep up the supply for my increasing demand from my patients! tVNS may help with PTSD, tinnitus, inflammation reduction, possibly even hypertension and digestive disorders--anything that gets dys-regulated when over-stress causes vagus nerve "disruption".

I purchased this unit because I have been having dull aching back and leg pain. I was surprised that after the first treatment, the pain seemed less intense. Not miraculously gone, but it was more tolerable to function with. I have been seeing a chiropractor who asked me to bring in the unit. After looking it over and downloading the manual for me, she printed out some recommended settings for me to use and told me I had purchased a very good unit. I have been following her recommendations and I can honestly say it has helped me function a lot better. I got a very good price for the unit and some of the associated equipment. It was a very good investment for me and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who has some type of pain or discomfort. There are quite a few settings to choose from and the best thing to do is experiment with what feels best for your specific condition. No complaints about it from me

My new Tens unit
Several years ago, my back surgeon at Cedars-Sinai hospital recommended I get a tens unit for chronic back pain following major surgery, which I did for many years, off and on. Then came a need recently for a flair up of pain and I dug out the old unit. It had been stored too long I guess and did not function as well. I ordered your unit, received it promptly and use it when ever I feel the need for relief! Works great, you can increase or lower the intensity easily and I am very pleased to have a very good product handy when the need for relaxation arises. It is also very handy to be able to be mobile and worn everywhere as you keep a busy schedule. You do not have to recline or be stationary to use. Love it!!!

Patient, former biomedical technologist
My physical therapist recommended this specific model. Well, as an old biomed tech I had to do my own homework and check out all the other models and other suppliers. Spent hours looking carefully at all the available data. Bottom line- I don't see how you could do better than this unit for basic TENS. The EMS mode is a very nice option to have as well, though I personally haven't needed it. This unit has the perfect amount of settings and options. It is well designed and efficient. My PT knew exactly how to get his patients the best device at an unbelievably low price. Would absolutely recommend this to others.

I have been dealing with back issues for most of my adult life. In the past 2 years things have gotten really bad. I have been to therapy, had shots , taken meds, done chiropractic care. Thie ten pro is similar to what my chiropractic uses. I love it !! It takes away pain and I feel is helping me heal.

Excellent Rehabilitation aid for re engaging hand function after a stroke , bought the tens three for my wife , its early days yet but there is a marked improvement and she is able to flex her fingers and hold items , still with a week grip but its a vast improvement and thanks to the Specialist who has put instructions on YouTube , the future looks bright . The ramp function or the rate at which the power builds up and falls is particularly good and controllable , a function not readily available on a vast number of Tens machines which generally have set programs and limited control .

Q:
How many uses can I get from the pads?
Asked by:
Michael
- 9/17/2015
A:
An average user will get approximately 10-15 uses per pack of the electrodes included with the Twin Stim III, depending on how frequently they are used and for how long, as well as the user's skin type. Once the adhesive gel wears off, you can simply discard the electrodes and begin with a new pack of pads, but note that each unit comes standard with only one pack of four individual electrodes.

Q:
What is the difference between the above unit and the "TENS 3000 TRANSCUTANEOUS NERVE STIMULATOR?
Asked by:
Dr. Jose Minaya MD
- 2/1/2017
A:
The InTENSity Twin Stim III is a TENS and EMS/NMES combination unit, allowing the user to be able choose between either TENS (Nerve Stimulation for pain relief) or EMS (Muscle stimulation for rehabilitation and re-education). This unit also runs off of either a 9V battery or an AC Adapter so that you can plug it into a wall outlet and power it that way. The TENS 3000 is a basic, analog, stand-alone TENS unit, and only runs off of a 9V battery.

It is generally not recommended to use an electrotherapy treatment on the face, but please always consult with a doctor/medical professional prior to considering such a treatment, to see if it is right for you. For TMJ, you may also want to ask specifically about Microcurrent vs. TENS vs. EMS.

What unit and accessories should I get for Tennis Elbow? What size pads, etc.?
Asked by:
DONALD
- 8/11/2015
A:
Unfortunately, since we do not staff doctors here, we can not suggest specific electrotherapy treatments. We highly recommend first consulting with a doctor/medical professional about your particular case, and if they recommend an electrotherapy treatment for you, such as TENS, EMS, Interferential, Russian Stim, etc., then we can certainly better assist in helping you select the right device for your needs.

Q:
Dear Sir/Ms: I have the Intenisty Twin Stim III. I have followed the step by step instructions but have not been able to start the program. Instructions say to press "S:" button when all is set up. When I do so it goes back to the beginning. So what is the magic button to get this to work?! Thanks for your time, Liz
Asked by:
Liz Cecchi
- 3/25/2021
A:
The final step of the setup cycle, when pressing the "S" button to navigate through each of the treatment parameters, is where you see "0 mA" displayed on the lower left and right-hand corners on the screen. This is for adjusting the pulse amplitude, measured in milliamps (mA), which is the intensity of the stimulation. So when you get to this point of the setup process, you are ready to begin your treatment session by pressing the appropriate Channel Up button(s) to increase the intensity from 0mA to 1mA and so forth, which will immediately activate the treatment timer as well. The intensity is adjustable from 0 - 105mA in 1mA increments. 'Hope this helps!
