Yes, in addition to 12 preset, clinically-tested pain relieving TENS programs organized by different body part settings, you can also set the device to Program "U1," which allows the user to set their own settings. Program U1 also allows the user to save, and store, up to six (6) different treatment settings that a user can select to run for specialized TENS therapy.

Unfortunately, for the 2nd Generation InTENSity devices, the battery charger does not also function like an AC Adapter so that you can use the unit while plugged into an outlet or computer via USB. If using it regularly, you may want to consider charging the unit overnight or while not in use, so that you have a full charge when beginning your treatment.

As a general rule of thumb, most users will get about 10-15 uses per pack of 4, which varies on such factors as how long you use them at a time, storage conditions, skin type, etc. It is always recommended to consider stocking up early on whenever purchasing a device, to take advantage of not having to pay shipping costs separately for smaller packages of replacement electrodes later on down the line.

"Isolated between channels" refers to the Pulse Amplitude (intensity of the stimulation, measured in mA) being independent of one another between Channel 1 and Channel 2. For example, if using both channels on the device to treat a given area on your body with 4 electrodes, instead of just 2 electrodes on one channel only, then you could set Pulse Amplitude to x mA on one channel, and y mA on the other channel, so they do not necessarily have to be exactly the same. You can not, however, set different body part programs for each channel individually, only 1 program at a time.

1) This device only runs off of a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, similar to a modern-day mobile phone.
2) Voltage input for the Adapter to re-charge the battery is compatible from 100-240V, so it will work just fine almost anywhere in the world. The only thing you may need is a universal travel adapter to make the plugs fit right for your style of power outlets in France, which you should be able to find somewhere locally, if necessary.
3) We can ship anywhere as long as we are able to verify the shipping address information.

This device is powered with a lithium ion rechargeable battery versus the usual 9V battery and/or AC adapter. The battery is charged by connecting the charger to the unit itself with the rechargeable battery inside. You are not able to use the device while it is connected to the charger and recharging itself, but you are able to recharge the battery over and over so you do not have to buy a new one when it dies.

The 2nd generation line of the InTENSity devices, including this InTENSity 12 device, are powered strictly by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, similar to a modern-day smartphone. The devices do include an AC adapter with USB cord as well, however, this cord/adapter is designed solely as a charger for the battery itself while plugged in, and you can not actually use the device while it is plugged in and charging. Most users will just charge the battery overnight, when needed, that way the unit is always ready to go the next time you need it.

Any of the 40+ options of electrodes that we currently carry are going to be compatible with every electrotherapy device that we carry as well. The 2mm-diameter metal pin-style connector of a unit's lead wire that plugs into the electrodes is an industry-standard connection type, and that is what all of our units/electrodes feature, so they are all universal and interchangeable. It really comes down to choosing whichever size/shape pad you feel would be the most appropriate and practical to apply to the area of the body you are looking to treat.

Hi Carol, TENS will help with temporary pain relief. Think of TENS like 'electric Tylenol'. If you or a physician you are working with knows the cause of the low back pain then there may be an alternative unit that will work better for you. But TENS will help with the pain!
