Is this just the back belt and you have to have your own electronic Tens device to hook to it?????????

Yes, this is just the Conductive Back Brace by itself. It comes with a snap adapter for where the lead wires of a TENS unit would plug into, and has mesh electrodes sewn in. TENS units are sold separately, but all use the same 2mm pin style lead wire connectors.

The electrode is a sewn-in conductive silver-mesh material.

I have an EMPI Select device. Will it properly power this garment?

Yes, any TENS unit, including your EMPI device, can be used with any Conductive Garment, as the Garments simply serve as an alternative to self-adhesive electrodes, and the connection type for the lead wires is the same throughout.

Is the spray really necessary?

Yes, you do need to use some spray to dampen the sewn-in mesh electrodes prior to each application. Do NOT use conductive garments when dry.

Does it come with its own power supply? If so, does it plug into 115 volt ac?

The Conductive Back Brace is simply an alternative to more conventional self-adhesive electrode pads. It does not come standard with any TENS electrotherapy device, but it is compatible with any TENS unit.

I am looking for an alternative to gel pads as I have become allergic to them and break out in a red, itchy rash. I'm thinking this may be something to try. I just wanted to make sure I understood how this works and that no gel pads are used with this? Thank you.

Correct, there is no adhesive gel used with conductive garments at all. The sewn-in electrodes are made of a conductive silver mesh fabric material that you simply moisten all the way around with either a Conductive Spray or Water, prior to applying to the area of the body you are looking to treat. This makes Conductive Garments much more skin-friendly and reusable compared to more conventional self-adhesive electrode pads.

Conductive Garments should be used only with suitable electrical sources specifically designed and approved for medical electrostimulation (most commonly used with a portable TENS unit).

Instructions For Use:

Remove any and all jewelry from treatment area.
Thoroughly cleanse area with soap and water.
Ensuring electrotherapy unit is turned off, insert lead wire pins into the garment's snap connectors, making sure no metal is visible as well.
Moisten the mesh electrode material with Conductive Spray (available as an option above) or water. Do not soak.
Fit the garment to the treatment area as instructed by your prescribing physician, ensuring the garment is making adequate contact with the area you are treating.
Connect the lead wires to the electrotherapy device. Turn the unit on and adjust the treatment parameters according to your prescribing physician's recommendations.

Cleaning & Care:

Hand wash in cold water only.
Air dry only - no heat.
Do not use bleach.

It works!

I've used TENS conductive pads for years but within the last couple of years, I was getting a skin rash - either from the rubber in the pad or the conductive gel used on the pads. The pads were also difficult to apply to my back without help. I started looking for "conductive garments" and found this BodyStim Conductive Back Brace. It works well - almost too well! Using pads, I would usually turn my TENS unit up to full blast. This back brace delivers much more stimulation than the pads, so I have to be careful not to turn it up too much. I think the back brace could benefit from some type of ventilation holes. I get hot and sweat under the brace.

Great product!

I highly recommend this! You definitely need to have. Water or conductive spray on your back to use it but as a garden that sounds all day bend over it has made my life so much easier!

MUCH more convenient than stick-on electrodes.

At first I thought the attachment points on the back brace seemed too far apart, but after wearing the brace for a few hours, my back felt SO good. It relaxed all the muscle spasms I had been feeling previously. I'm sold on not having to try sticking electrodes on my back and getting them in just the right place.

This is so comfortable and the large pads cover the area needed. If this were made with blue tooth I'd wear it all day, it is that comfortable! I use this for the gym and hasn't hindered me at all. I recommend!

Damaged Thoracic Back Muscle

I have a damaged muscle in my thoracic back. I have had a TENS unit for years and have had issues with putting the pads on my back. I decided to order this item to make it easier for me to use the TENS on my back. Now I can use it everyday to relieve my pain. It actually works better than the pads I got from the medical supplies companies. I was using my TENS at max power, now I can only handle about half way. It is super easy to put on, but make sure you use the liquid! I forgot when I first got the item, and almost hit the ceiling when I turned it one.

The belt work's great as long as you wet your skin with water or conductive spray. Much better than buying electrodes. I use this for an hour or two every morning .

Belt works great. It is much less bulky than the previous version. However, I would suggest that inside of the snap attachment (against the body) be made of rust proof metal as that part has a tendency to rust due to the moisture applied to the pad as well as sweat from the back ltself.
